SERIES/MEAC HISTORY
Winthrop and North Carolina Central will meet for the ninth time on Tuesday. Winthrop is 8-0 all-time against NC Central, winning three of those matchups on the road. Winthrop's last win over NC Central came on Nov. 14, 2018, a 66-41 home win. Winthrop holds a 23-26 all-time record against current MEAC members.

WINTHROP
Winthrop women's basketball opened its season with a 61-68 loss to Iona College on Saturday. Jah'Che Whitfield led the team with a career-high 21 point.s. She also contributed five assists and a career-high seven rebounds in the opener. Winthrop had 21 bench points against Iona, 11 coming from Sydney Buckley. Newcomers Tori Hall and Imani Elliot made their collegiate debut, playing a combined three minutes, each committing a turnover. Lynette Woodard is in her third full season as head coach at Winthrop. She holds a 13-52 overall record and is now 0-3 in season openers.

NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL
The Eagles are led by third-year head coach, Trisha Stafford-Odom. Coming off a 9-22 season overall and a 5-11 mark in the MEAC, NC Central was selected to finish 8th overall in the MEAC preseason poll. The Eagles beat Winston-Salem State, 76-66, in an exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 3.

RILEY CLOSING IN ON 500 REBOUNDS
Junior Anika Riley is 74 away from 500 career rebounds. In the season opener against Iona College, she had a team-high 12 rebounds. As a freshman, Riley appeared in all 30 games, averaging 5.6 rebounds. She finished with a total of 174. Riley earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors and was named to the Big South All-Freshman team. In her sophomore season, she tallied 167 defensive rebounds and 73 offensive rebounds for a total of 240, averaging eight a game. Riley appeared in all 30 games. Schaquilla Nunn (2012-15) currently holds the school record with 910 career rebounds.  

WINTHROP SPORTS SHOW AT ROCO
Joins us on Mondays at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season for the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season.
