Game Recap
- The first half saw the Eagles have a couple of good chances for an early lead
- Andreas Jackson was on the end of a corner kick in the 5th minute as he had a free header from about eight yards out from goal that sailed over the bar
- The first half seemed to be headed for a scoreless tie but Nate Evans put the Bulldogs up before the break
- Evans collected a free ball, dribbled toward the middle of the field and fired a shot on goal that went over the head of Sam Jones and just under the bar into the net
- The Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 59th minute when a corner kick went off the back of a Winthrop defender at the back post and into the net
- Marc Carreras nearly cut the deficit in half a ball bounced back to him at the corner of the 18 and his struck a half volley that bent over the head of the keeper but Jarrett Payne just got his finger tips on the ball diving backward and it tipped just over the bar
- The Eagles applied pressure offensively looking to get the board but just couldn't connect on several services into the box
- In the 79th minute Frank Morales took a pass from Evans, cut back toward the top of the 18 and fired a shot into the top left corner
- Eagles finished with a 9-7 advantage in shots and 7-4 edge in corner kicks

- Jones finished with one save as he falls to 1-3 on the year
- Jordi Mola made his season debut as he returned from injury as the center back put in 76 minutes

Winthrop remains at home as it will host Campbell in a Big South matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
