Game Recap
- Mercer applied pressure in the early going and had three shots in the first 6:19 of the game but none were on target
- The Bears continued to pressure and forced Sam Jones to make his first save in the 16th minute
- In the 18th minute the Eagles generated their first opportunity as Marc Carreras' shot was saved and over the line for a corner as the Eagles earned back-to-back corners
- Off the second corner, Jogvan Jacobsen eventually got some space and fired a shot headed toward the bottom left corner that was saved
- In the 23rd minute Carrares again tested J.R. DeRose but the save was made
- Mercer had back-to-back shots in the 29th minute as Jones was able to make the save on both to keep the slate clean through the first 30 minutes
- A defensive snafu led to the first goal of the game as Mercer's Trevor Martineau capitalized with his sixth goal of the year in the 49th minute
- Mercer doubled its lead late as the Eagles looked to equalize as Martineau struck again off a pass from Leonel Toledo Jr.
- Winthrop spoiled the shutout late as Michael Smith scored with 28 seconds remaining for his second of the season
Notables
- Mercer finished with a 20-7 advantage in shots and 9-3 in shots on goal
- The Eagles had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks
- Sam Jones played the first half finishing with six saves while Chandler Gaunce played the second half finishing with one save
- This was Gaunce's first game since he left the game at Mount St. Mary's on Sept. 1
