NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Winthrop women's tennis (1-1) fell 4-0 to Oklahoma (3-0) in its opening match at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on the campus of Vanderbilt University Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-The Eagles and Sooners split the first two doubles courts as OU won court two and Winthrop took court one, but the Sooners' court three duo would pull ahead 5-3 on a tough ad point and go on to secure the doubles point with a 6-3 win.
 
-OU pulled ahead 3-0 with straight-set wins at the number five and three positions.
 
-At Nos. 2 and 4, both Alisa Soloveva and Rafaela Santos turned around first set losses to take the second set and force third sets. Each of their matches would go unfinished as the match would be decided by a straight-set OU victory at No. 6.
 
-No. 66 Lauren Proctor was the only Eagle to win her first set in singles play, but OU's Martina Capurro battled back to take the second in a 7-6 tiebreaker. The contest on court one would end in no result as the match decision came from other courts.  

NOTABLES
-All-Americans Megan Kauffman and Lauren Proctor (No. 22) improved to 2-0 on the year with a 6-4 victory at court one.

The Eagles will face fourth-seeded Memphis in the consolation match at 10 a.m. ET on Sat., Jan. 26 in Nashville, Tenn.
