ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop men's soccer suffered a third straight loss as Georgia State scored three second half goals to earn a 3-1 win, Saturday evening at Eagle Field.

Game Recap
- Winthrop had a good scoring chance in the early going as Yves Luscher was on the end of a service to the back post as his volley effort just missed the lower left corner
- In the 12th minute the Panthers had their first good chance as a cross in front of goal found Hannes Burmeister running on as his first-time blast hit the crossbar and went out for a goal kick
- In the 20th minute, the Eagles had their turn with the crossbar as Leif Estevez dribbled toward the middle of the field and let one fly from about 25-30 yards out as the ball knuckled and smacked the crossbar and was cleared away
- Winthrop was on the board first in the 41st minute as freshman Alfie Rogers took just a minute and 18 seconds to score after coming on as a substitute
- Marc Carreras slipped a pass behind the defense as Rogers ran on and slotted the ball past Georgia State goalkeeper Paul Tyson
- The equalizer came in the 50th minute as Kwaku Adu-Boahene served a ball that made its way to the back post as Lukas Joyner settled the cross and ripped a shot past Jack Pondy
- In the 56th minute, Matthew Feamley won a 50/50 ball a little off center from goal and 35 yards out as he let one fly that rocketed into the top right corner of the goal for a 2-1 lead
- The Panthers made it a two-goal game in the 58th minute as Adu-Boahene and Joyner hooked up again as the cross found its way through a crowd in front of goal and Joyner tapped it into the net for his second goal
- Winthrop had a great chance to get one back in the 70th minute as Rogers received a pass in the box and dribbled away from the goalkeeper as he came out of goal
- Estevez ended up with the ball as he dribbled on the end line put a ball on frame as it bounced around and was cleared off the line and then out to Rogers but his shot sailed over the bar
- Rogers drew a free kick just outside the box in the 82nd minute as Jordan Walshaw stepped up and cracked a shot on goal to the lower left corner but Tyson made the diving save as the ball was cleared away

- Rogers now has two goals in three games he's played (missed the game against Wofford College)
- Georgia State finished with a 16-10 advantage on shots (7-3 shots on goal)
- The Panthers finished with five corners while the Eagles had four
- Carreras picked up his third point in four games this season
