  • Leif Estevez delivered a corner to the back post as Carvajal ran on and headed the service into the right side of the frame for his first as an Eagle
  • Just over two and half minutes later Estevez put the Eagles ahead 2-0 as he dribbled toward the middle of the field and cracked a shot past the keeper from around 30 yards to the left side of the goal
  • USC Upstate cut the Eagles lead in half when Anson Girone tried to cross the ball but instead found the back of the net as the ball sailed over Jack Pondy's head and into the back right corner of the goal
  • In the 36th minute Davis Bryan was on the back post on a ball played on the surface behind the defense as he cracked a shot first touch but Andrea Bonavia closed in and was able to make the save
  • In the 40th minute Ricky Maldonado headed home a free kick at the back post to tie the game at 2-2, where it stood at the half
  • In the 59th minute the Eagles had a good chance as a service came in near post as Alfie Rogers ran on unmarked but his shot was right at the keeper
  • Rogers had another chance to put the Eagles in front in the 65th minute as he had a free header straight on from goal about 8-9 yards away but Bonavia was able to get down and make the save
  • In the 67th minute a ball was played across the mouth of the goal and found its way to Marc Carreras running on but his shot hit the left post and went over the line for a goal kick
  • Less than a minute later the Spartans took a 3-2 lead as Cam Philpot made a run to the near post and headed home a cross from Girone
  • In the 76th minute it was Philpot again as he was in the right place at the right time
  • Francis Eto ripped a ball across the goal mouth as Pondy dove to keep the ball from reaching the back post as a Spartan player ran on but his deflection came right to Philpot as he placed the ball into the open goal for the 4-2 lead
  • Rogers finally broke through in the 84th minute as Carreras and Carvajal played a quick 1-2 that put Rogers with a free look at goal in the box and he slotted the ball by the keeper
  • In the 90th minute Rogers was again in position as a cross came to the far post and he ripped a shot toward the goal but a Spartan player standing just in front of the goal line cleared it away
