SERIES HISTORY VERSUS USC UPSTATE
This will be the 16th meeting between the two programs as Winthrop holds a slight edge in the all-time series 8-7. The teams have split the last two meetings as the Eagles won 4-0 last year and lost 5-4 at USC Upstate in 2015.

THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET
Winthrop and USC Upstate met on Eagle Field in 2017 as the Eagles scored three second half goals en route to a 4-0 victory. The Eagles took a 1-0 just two minutes before halftime and then scored two goals six minutes apart as Max Hasenstab made it 2-0 in the 57th minute and Leif Estevez put the Eagles on top 3-0 in the 63rd minute.

A GLANCE AT THE EAGLES
Eagles look to end a four-game skid after falling 2-1 in overtime to Davidson on Saturday. The Eagles tied the match in the 61st minute on a Jordan Walshaw penalty for his second of the year. Walshaw currently ranks 4th in the Big South in scoring at 1.40 points per game. There were a number of opportunities for the Eagles to grab the lead in regulation but they were unable to find the back of the net. The Wildcats were awarded a penalty a minute and 20 seconds into the first overtime as Davidson made the penalty for the 2-1 win with the golden goal.  Winthrop will look to become 1-of-4 teams in the league without a loss as High Point and Campbell sit atop the standings at 2-0 and Longwood is 1-0.

BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Winthrop was picked sixth in the Big South preseason poll as High Point was voted as the favorite with 7-of-9 first-place votes. High Point was followed by Radford, Campbell, Presbyterian College and Gardner-Webb. Tied for 7th was UNC Asheville and Longwood while USC Upstate was voted 9th. The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Big South Conference Tournament.

WHAT'S AHEAD
The Eagles remain at home for a sixth straight contest as they host league-leading and preseason favorite High Point Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m.
