JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Winthrop women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Friday evening, falling on the road to the North Florida Ospreys.
HOW IT HAPPENED
North Florida (2-3) got on the board in the 12
th minute and pounded the offensive end in the first half, firing off 13 shots. The Ospreys increased their lead to two in the 29
th minute on a counter-attack. Winthrop (2-1-1) had a few chances including one that was swept off the goal line by the North Florida defense.
Only 6:39 into the second half, the Ospreys added an insurance goal, scoring on a header off of a corner kick. The best chance for the Eagles came in the 58
th minute as
Gabi Hull's shot was pushed away by the North Florida goalkeeper.

North Florida finished with an 18-5 advantage in shots, putting eight on goal while the Eagles put three on frame. Hull finished with three shots while
Natalie Royaards and
Allie Thomas each fired off one.
Kelly Horan made four saves in 78 minutes in goal while allowing three goals.
Ashlynn Harris played the final 12 minutes, making one save.
