RADFORD, VA— The season came to an end for Winthrop softball as it fell 3-2 to Radford and 12-2 to Campbell, Wednesday at the Big South Conference Tournament on the campus of Radford University.

WHAT HAPPENED
vs. Radford
- The Eagles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third inning
- Morgan Lowers singled with one out and then reached second on a fielder's choice as she beat a throw to second after a bunt from Blake Wallert
- A groundout by Keleigh Romine moved the runners over to second and third as Ansley Gilreath stepped in and delivered a two-run single to left
- Radford got on the board in the sixth as Sofia Tapia led off the inning with a double to right center
- Talia Douglas followed with a single up the middle that scored Tapia
- Kiley Majette struck out the next batter and then got an inning-ending double play with a line drive to third base as Ashley Westbrooks threw the ball to first to double off Douglas
- Hunter Mundy led off the 7th inning with a double to left to get the tying run on base and the game-winning run to the plate
- After Mundy was sacrificed to third, Marissa Yow singled through the left side to tie the game at 2-2
- With two outs and runners at second and third, Douglas singled down the left field line for the walk-off hit
- Majette tossed a complete game allowing three runs on nine hits with two walks and seven strikeouts as she falls to 10-17
vs. Campbell (elimination game)
- Campbell struck first as Megan Mozingo led off the bottom of the first with a homerun to right
- Ansley Gilreath tied the game in the top of the second as she hit a leadoff homerun to left
- Campbell pushed seven across in the bottom of the second highlighted by a two-run single by Katie Manring and a two-run double from Abby Perryman
- Eagles got one back in the third as Ashley Westbrooks singled with two outs
- Morgan Lowers followed with a double to right center, scoring Westbrooks from first
- Wallert followed with a single to put runners on the corners
- The Eagles tried a double steal as it looked like Lowers was going to score after the throw to second but the throw home was in time as she slid home but couldn't get past the catcher as Wamcheck applied the tag to end the inning
- Lizabeth McCurry made it 9-2 Campbell with an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth
- Rachel McCollum ended the game in the fifth inning with a three-run homerun to center
EXTRA BASES
- Morgan Lowers had three hits against Radford, which was her third consecutive Big South Tournament game with multiple hits and fourth in the last six
- Gilreath has now had a hit and RBI in six straight conference tournament games
- Coach Mark Cooke coached his final game for Winthrop as he retires after leading the Eagles from 29 years
- Cooke leaves as the all-time leader in victories and conference tournament victories in Big South history
