ROCK HILL, S.C. – In its second-straight midweek game, Winthrop baseball (17-22, 9-6 Big South Conference) fell 7-1 to USC Upstate (20-20-1, 3-6 Atlantic Sun Conference) on Wednesday evening. The Spartans have taken both games this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Spartans posted a five-spot in the second inning that the Eagles would be unable to catch.

Jake Sullivan knocked an RBI double in the bottom of the 3
rd to get Winthrop on the board, his second-consecutive game with a two-base hit.
-After scoring in the 3
rd, the Eagles wouldn't get a baserunner to third again until the 9
th inning and would be unable to get the runner across.
NOTABLES

Macklin Ohs put together a nice outing, going a career-long 5.2 innings in relief allowing two runs on seven hits and recording a career-high four strikeouts.
-The Eagles recorded seven hits, falling to 5-18 when failing to record double-digit hits.
