WHAT HAPPENED
- Gardner-Webb grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second after three straight doubles by Lauren Huffman, Weslyn Almond and Jenna Wacaster
- Katie Prebble made it 4-0 in favor of the Runnin' Bulldogs with a two-run homerun in the third
- The Eagles cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth as Ansley Gilreath hit her 8th homerun of the season, a two-run shot to right center
- Gardner-Webb increased its lead in the 5th when Maddi Johnson hit a three-run, pinch-hit homerun with two outs for a 7-4 lead
- Eagles responded in the bottom of the fourth as Ashley Westbrooks connected on her sixth homerun of the season with a two-run bomb to left center to make it a 7-4 game
- In the bottom sixth the Eagles pulled within two runs as Westbrooks drove in her third run of the game with a two-out sacrifice fly
- Still trailing by two runs in the seventh the Eagles put runners in position to tie or take the lead
- Back-to-back walks with one out by Gilreath and Sabrina Shroades put runners at first and second
- A single up the middle by Blake Wallert loaded the bases with one out
- But Gardner-Webb pitcher Sam Harrell got back-to-back pop outs by Jesse Burleson and A.G. Gardner to end the game
