EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a strong performance Thursday afternoon, downing Sacred Heart 15-4 at Eagle Field.
Nicole Beatson and
Kristen Shriver each tallied seven points. Beatson scored five goals and assisted on two others while Shriver recorded five assists and scored twice. Shriver reached both the 100 career goal and 100 career assist plateau in Thursday's game.
Beatson and Shriver are both in the top five of the Big South in points per game. Shriver is second in the conference in assists while Beatson sits third in goals scored.
SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
The Owls enter Saturday's matchup with a 1-4 overall record. Kennesaw last played Sunday at home, falling 13-12 to St. Francis. The Owls' lone victory came on the road at East Carolina.
Kennesaw is having no problem scoring goals as it is averaging nearly 12 goals per contest but are allowing nearly 15 goals per game. Siena Gore has scored more than a third of Kennesaw's goals this year as the freshman has tallied 21 goals. Izzy Palermo has scored 11 times this season. Lauren Hoffman has played every minute for the Owls, making 36 percent of her saves.
ALL-TIME AGAINST KENNESAW STATE
The Eagles and Owls have met twice before with Winthrop coming out victorious both times. The two sides have not met since 2015.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop continues a road swing next week as the Eagles head to Myrtle Beach. Winthrop will play twice while on the coast. The Eagles will play Coastal Carolina on Tuesday before a neutral site contest against Elon Friday.
