- The Eagles and Chanticleers have continued their series despite Coastal Carolina's move to the Sun Belt Conference
- Winthrop and Coastal Carolina have met 109 times with Coastal leading the series 59-50
- The two teams split a doubleheader in Conway, SC last year
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS NORTH CAROLINA
- This will mark the 40th meeting all-time as the Tar Heels lead the series 31-8
- The two teams met in Chapel Hill, NC last year as the Eagles pulled out an 8-7 victory
- It was the Eagles first win over UNC since 2007
GLANCE AT THE EAGLES
- The Eagles came within a half inning of taking their second league series, but a three-run homerun in the bottom of the 6th lifted Campbell to a 5-3 win as it took the series 2-1
- Winthrop took the first game of the series behind the arm and bat of Kiley Majette
- The junior pitcher helped the Eagles overcome a 2-0 deficit after two innings in a 5-2 win
- Majette tossed seven innings allowing two runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts while she was also 1-for-2 at the plate with a two-run homerun
- Majette finished the series 3-for-4 at the plate with a run and four RBI
- Morgan Lowers extended her hitting streak to 11 games over the weekend and now leads the team with a .333 average
- Ashley Westbrooks was 0-for-10 in the series at Campbell, but is second on the team with a .312 average and continues to lead in runs scored (11) and RBI (12)
- Majette is 7-6 on the year with a 2.16 ERA with 70 strikeouts to 13 walks
GLANCE AT THE CHANTICLEERS
- Coming off an 8-6 win over UT-Arlington to avoid the sweep in a Sun Belt Conference series
- The doubleheader against the Eagles begins a five-game road trip that will conclude this weekend in Monroe, LA with three games at Louisiana-Monroe
- Coastal is 0-5 in true road games this year and 2-1 in neutral site games
- Chanticleers are 2-0 against the Big South this year with a 3-0 win over PC and a 2-1 win over Charleston Southern
- As a team the Chanticleers average 4.3 runs per game and have 46 homeruns on the year
- Courtney Dean leads the team in batting at .347 to go along with 15 runs, seven homeruns and 18 RBI
- Coastal has used two pitchers about evenly for the season as Ashley Guillette and Kaitlin Beasley-Polko have combined to throw 194.2 of the team's 210.2 innings
- Beasley-Polko is 8-9 on the year with a 3.09 ERA and 99 strikeouts to 49 walks while Guillette is 8-7 with a 4.00 ERA and 81 strikeouts to 67 walks

- Coming off a 2-1 series win at Notre Dame this past weekend and have won 4-of-5
- Kiani Ramsey has a team-best .341 batting average, has 10 runs and is 10-of-11 stealing bases
- Taylor Wike leads the team with seven homeruns and 22 RBI while batting .330
- Brittany Pickett has started 18 games with 29 appearances while holding a record of 14-5
- Pickett leads the pitching staff with a 2.18 ERA and has 107 strikeouts to 37 walks
HEAD COACH MARK COOKE
- Head coach Mark Cooke is in his 34th season overall and 29th year at Winthrop
- Cooke announced this will be his final season coaching as he enters the year with a record of 762-800-3 at Winthrop and 846-849-3 in his career
- He is the Big South Conference's all-time leader in victories, conference wins, and conference tournament victories
- During his tenure the Eagles have won four Big South Tournament titles and four Big South regular season championships
- Cooke has led his team to 11 Big South Conference Tournament Title games (tied with Coastal Carolina's Jess Dannelly for the most by any coach in league history)
- Voted Big South Coach of the Year in 2005, 2007 and 2008
- He guided the 2007 squad to a program record 50 wins and is one of only two teams in the history of the Big South to win 50 games in a single-season
2018 PLAYER HONORS/MILESTONES
- Kiley Majette was named the Big South Pitcher of the Week after the opening weekend for the Eagles and this past week for a second time this season
- Majette tossed her second no-hitter of the season and didn't allow a run in 16 innings pitched during the Winthrop/adidas Tournament
- For her first weekly honor she was 2-0 in three appearances that included a no-hitter against Samford
- It was the first no-hitter in the program since Kelli Johnson had one on Apr. 21, 2005 against Furman
- Majette reached 300 strikeouts in her career and now has 311, which ranks T-7th on the all-time list
2018 SCHEDULE
- Eagles have 18 contests scheduled against teams that finished in the Top 125 of RPI in 2017, 12 in the Top 100, 11 in the Top 75, eight in the Top 50 and four in the Top 25
- Seven opponents on the slate this year competed in an NCAA Regional in 2017
- There are 26 different opponents on the schedule and 14 of them had a winning record in 2017 (15 were .500 or better)
- Seven of the opponents finished with 30 or more wins and four had 40 or more wins
BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Winthrop was picked to finish sixth in the annual preseason poll, despite returning eight starters and all four pitchers from the 2017 team that finished 5
th in the league. Longwood was voted to win the league, receiving 5-of-8 first place votes, followed by Liberty, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Radford, Winthrop, Presbyterian College and Gardner-Webb.

Following their midweek contests the Eagles will be back in action at home this weekend when they host Radford in a three-game series beginning on Friday with a single-game scheduled for 5 p.m.
