ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop baseball (5-11) struggled to find momentum and fell 8-3 to in-state foe Furman (10-6) Tuesday evening at Winthrop Ballpark.
Mitch Spires and
Hunter Lipscomb kept up their hot hitting with RBI singles in the second and fifth innings, respectively.
However, the Paladins maximized a no-outs, bases-loaded situation in the sixth to find a spark and get four runs across for a 4-3 lead. Furman took advantage of Winthrop pitching struggles to score four more in the seventh for the 8-3 lead.
