Baseball Gets Series Sweep Over Md. Eastern Shore With 5-4 Win

Mulkey extends hitting streak to six games.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop baseball (3-5) earned a series sweep over Maryland Eastern Shore (0-3) with a 5-4 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles jumped on top in the second with three runs, a lead they would not relinquish. The Hawks would battle back with runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth to draw within one, but senior LHP Riley Arnone would hold on to earn the save.
 
NOTABLES
- Junior Matthew Mulkey was 1-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, bringing his season total to seven runs, the team-high. Mulkey has recorded a hit in six-straight games, also a team-high.
- The Eagles notched four stolen bases on the day, a season-high.
 
UP NEXT
Winthrop hits the road again Tuesday to take on in-state foe Clemson at 4 p.m. before returning home to Winthrop Ballpark for a three-game series with Kent State, Fri.-Sun., Mar. 2-4.
