ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop baseball (2-5) took a 5-1 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore (0-2) in game two Saturday afternoon to earn the series win.
The Hawks got on the board in the second and would hold a 1-0 lead until Winthrop could tie it up in the fifth on a
Brandon Fite single RBI. The Eagles would blow it open in the sixth on a
Matthew Mulkey three-run homer, and tack on one more in the seventh as
Mitch Spires would score on a
Dillon Morton ground out.

Nate Pawelczyk was lights out in his second outing of the season, allowing just two hits and one run and striking out seven in 8.0 innings.

Matthew Mulkey hit his second home run in as many games, this one for 3 RBI.
-Hot-hitting freshman
Dillon Morton did not record a hit, but he get on base on an error to lead off the 6
th and would score on Mulkey's three-run homer that put the Eagles up for good.
