Lacrosse Heads To Davidson For 6:30 p.m. Thursday Contest Against Wildcats

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team will travel for its first road contest of the season Thursday as the Eagles head up I-77 to take on the Davidson Wildcats in a 6:30 p.m. contest.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a tough 12-10 loss to Cincinnati at home Sunday afternoon.  The Eagles opened the season with a 17-9 victory over East Carolina Friday evening.
 
Senior Katie Clark and Katherine Judge have led the Eagles offensively with six goals each while Kirsten Shriver and Nicole Beatson have totaled eight and seven points respectively. 
 
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson recorded a season-opening road victory over Furman on Sunday, 18-8.  The Wildcats are looking to rebound from a disappointing 8-10 record last season.  Davidson had a balanced attack against the Paladins as four players recorded three goals while two others scored twice.  Rose Woolson played the majority of the game for Davidson, picking up the victory, making two saves while allowing seven goals.
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST DAVIDSON
Thursday will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Eagles and Wildcats with the series tied 2-2.  After dropping the first two meetings, Winthrop has won the last two including a 10-5 decision at home last season. 
 
WHAT'S UP NEXT
The Eagles will have the week off before they remain on the road for their next contest.  Winthrop will travel to Sparks, Maryland to take on Navy on Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m.  The game will be played at the new US Lacrosse Stadium.
