Women's Soccer Hosts Radford Saturday In Key Big South Matchup

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's soccer team returns to Eagle Field Saturday looking to regain its winning ways in Big South Conference play against Radford at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Eagles took a tough loss Wednesday night on the road at USC Upstate.  After holding a one-goal edge through most of the first half, the Spartans scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest to take the 4-2 victory.  Allie Thomas and Brianna Palmer each scored for the Eagles.

SCOUTING RADFORD
The Highlanders come to Eagle Field with a 3-1 mark in the Big South with a 7-2-1 record overall.  Radford has won its last two conference matchups over High Point and Longwood after suffering its lone conference loss to Gardner-Webb.  Jessica Wollmann leads Radford and is second in the Big South with eight goals this season.  Nelia Perez has scored three times and assisted on five others.  Courtenay Kaplan has played the majority of minutes in goal this season, recording a 6-2-1 record, allowing 1.4 goals per game.

SERIES HISTORY
Winthrop and Radford have met 16 previous times with the Highlanders holding an 8-5-3 overall record over the Eagles.  Radford has won the last two meetings with Winthrop's last victory coming at home in 2014.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop heads back on the road for a mid-week contest.  The Eagles will travel to UNC Asheville for a 6 p.m. contest against the Bulldogs on Wednesday before returning home to host High Point for Senior Day next Saturday.
