Game Recap
- Radford applied immediate pressure on the Eagles with three corners in the first five and a half minutes and the pressure paid off in the 9th minute
- Highlanders were awarded a penalty 8:14 into the match and Kieran Roberts converted for his 6th of the season
- In the 12th minute the Eagle defense misplayed a through ball and Amadou Diop made the them pay with a bit of fortune as well
- Diop ripped a shot as Aidan McCormick made the save, but the ball popped up and as McCormick tried to locate it, the ball bounced on the groundand spun into the goal
- Eagles nearly cut the deficit in half in the 25th minute as a corner kick by Marc Carerras bounced around in front of goal as Davis Bryan's initial shot was stuffed but the ball bounced right in front of Jogvan Jacobsen who struck a shot on goal but it hit a defender at the goal line and was cleared
- Just moments after Jordan Walshaw checked into the contest he had two good looks inside the 18 to the left of the goalkeeper but each shot sailed high and right with the second opportunity much closer to the frame
- Eagles trailed 2-0 at the half and came out aggressive in the early going of the second half as Leif Estevez had a good look but his shot from outside the 18 was wide right
- In the 59th minute Jacobsen sent a header on frame about eight yards out but Sam Farrell tipped the ball over the bar
- On the ensuing corner Estevez had a shot inside the box blocked and Radford countered as Khori Bennett collected a pass inside his own half about 10 yards away from midfield
- Bennett dribbled down the middle of the field as he had a one-on-one the entire way and as he crossed the 18 he dribbled right and cracked a shot into the lower left corner for a 3-0 lead
- Winthrop finally broke through in the 71st minute as Carreras played a ball wide to Jonathan Foster and his cross on the surface was struck first time by Davis Bryan as he ran onto the cross and slotted it into the right corner
- In the 79th minute Carreras slipped a ball through the Radford defense as Estevez ran on and fired a shot as he crossed the 18 but Farrell had come out of goal and closed the angle as he was able to make the save
- Yves Luscher had a header go wide off a corner kick in the 82nd minute as it deflected wide off a Radford defender
Notables
- The Eagles finished with a 13-12 advantage in shots as both teams finished with seven shots on goal each
- Aiden McCormick finished with four saves while Sam Farrell had five
- Winthrop had won back-to-back road games against Big South opponents
