SERIES HISTORY VERSUS PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE
This marks the 20th meeting all-time with the Blue Hose as the Eagles are 17-2 all-time in the series. The Blue Hose have won the last two meetings and won the last time these two teams met in Clinton the Blue Hose won 3-1. Eagles are now 8-1 all-time at PC.

THE LAST TIME THESE TWO TEAMS MET
Winthrop squared off with PC in its Big South Conference opener last season in Rock Hill and yielded two goals in the second half to fall 2-0. The first goal came in the 54th minute off a corner and then the second goal was a one-on-one in the 62nd minute.

A GLANCE AT THE EAGLES
The Eagles are heading into a key stretch after dropping back-to-back one-goal games to open Big South play. It starts with the defending Big South Conference champion on the road at Presbyterian College and then at UNC Asheville on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Eagles return home on Wednesday, Oct. 10 to take on Gardner-Webb. All three opponents as well as the Eagles have just one win on the year so theoretically it will be the best opportunity to try and put themselves in position to reach the Big South Conference Tournament. The Eagles are coming off a 1-0 loss to league-leading High Point as they had a couple of quality opportunities to score in the second half but were unable to break through. Alfie Rogers still leads the team with three goals while Jordan Walshaw and Leif Estevez lead the team with seven points.

A GLANCE AT THE BLUE HOSE
PC is coming off its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Campbell on Sept. 28. Half of the Blue Hose's losses were by a single goal heading into that matchup  PC grabbed a 1-0 lead at the half thanks to a goal from Ricardo Hernandez in the 37th minute. Campbell tied the game in the 50th minute but then Marcos Kitromilides put the game away with the game-winner in the 61st minute and the insurance goal in the 86th minute. Kitromilides along with Sergio Pinto and Clement Vannier all lead the Blue Hose with four points.

10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF 2008 BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP
This season the Eagles celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2008 Big South Conference Championship team. That team survived some of the most dramatic games in program history on its way to a 15-6-1 record overall as it fell 3-1 at William & Mary in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles captured a 3-2 win at Coastal Carolina on Nov. 5 in foggy conditions as Matt Lacey's laser from 35 yards on a counter found the upper left corner of the goal with 4:16 left in regulation. The Eagles rallied in that game from a 2-1 deficit early in the second half to clinch the regular season title. In the conference tournament (Held at Coastal) the Eagles advanced to the title game in penalties against Liberty. The title game saw the Eagles steal their third title in program history against Coastal. The Chanticleers grabbed a 3-2 lead on a penalty kick in the 87th minute as the Eagles scored with just 21 seconds on the clock to force overtime and then in the 101st minute Daniel Revivo buried a service to the back post for the golden goal victory.

BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Winthrop was picked sixth in the Big South preseason poll as High Point was voted as the favorite with 7-of-9 first-place votes. High Point was followed by Radford, Campbell, Presbyterian College and Gardner-Webb. Tied for 7th was UNC Asheville and Longwood while USC Upstate was voted 9th. The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Big South Conference Tournament.

Winthrop will remain on the road as it travels to Asheville, NC Saturday, Oct. 6 to take on UNC Asheville at 5 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
