FARMVILLE, VA— Winthrop used a 17-0 second half run to overcome a three-point halftime deficit to capture a fifth straight win with a 95-78 win at Longwood, Wednesday evening at Willett Hall.

FIRST HALF
- Longwood got off to a hot start by knocking down its first five shots
- The Lancers won the tip, scored and then stole the inbound pass and Isaiah Walton hit a three for a 5-0 lead after 34 seconds
- Lancers pushed the lead to 11-1 after a B.K. Ashe triple and then the lead grew as much as 11 points at 16-5 following a Charles Glover three
- Bjorn Broman made three free throws to start a run that turned into 10 straight points by the Eagles
- Xavier Cooks followed that with a three-point play before Kyle Zunic knocked down a three and then Anders Broman went 1-for-2 at the foul line to trail 16-15 with 13:37 to play in the half
- Longwood pushed its lead back to eight points at 25-17 on an a three from Ashe
- Winthrop responded again as Zunic hit a three which started an 8-0 run to tie the game at 25-25 as Josh Ferguson hit a three and Adam Pickett scored on the drive
- Ferguson gave the Eagles with a score inside at 29-28 and then Cooks scored on the next possession for a 31-28 lead
- Longwood outscored the Eagles 16-10 the rest of the way to lead 44-41 at the break
- Both teams shot the ball well from the field as Longwood shot 60 percent and the Eagles hit on 50 percent
- Longwood knocked down nine threes in the half (9-for-15)
- Winthrop started the game 9-for-14 from the floor and Longwood also hit nine of its first 14 shots
SECOND HALF
- Bjorn Broman tied the game at 44-44 on the first possession of the second half and Cooks scored inside a few possessions later to put the Eagles in front 48-47
- Cooks hit a jumper in the lane for a 50-47 lead before Glover scored to make it a one-point game
- Winthrop then went on a 17-0 run to open up a double-figure lead at 67-49
- The run started with a three-point play from Pickett followed by back-to-back baskets by Cooks
- Anders Broman made it nine straight points after he stole the ball and then scored on the other end
- Andres Broman scored six straight points to continue the run and then Kyle Zunic hit a three for a 66-49 lead with 11:29 remaining
- Bjorn Broman hit a triple with 6:19 to play to put the Eagles on top 79-58 as he became the 5th Eagle in the game to reach double-figures
- Winthrop shot 66 percent in the second half as it started off making its first six shots and 9-of-12 to aid in the big run
- Longwood made just two of its first 12 shots to start the half and finished shooting 39 percent in the half
- Anders Broman scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half
