- Winthrop conceded an early goal as North Carolina's Jelan Pieters scored his 6th of the season on an assist by Zach Wright
- In the 12th minute, Kenneth Perkinson's errant pass toward one of his defenders goes to Wright as he takes a couple of dribbles toward goal and slips one off the post and into the net for a 2-0 lead
- In the 36th minute Cam Linley fired one from 25 yards out that forced Perkinson into a diving save to his right as the shot had good pace
- North Carolina made it 3-0 in the 42nd minute as Lucas del Rosario finished off a pass from Raul Aguilera that set him up with a free look on goal in the box
- In the 57th minute the Eagles cleared a shot off the line as Mejia ripped one at the six, but hit an Eagle player and were able to clear
- The 4th goal came in the 71st minute as del Rosario dribbled to the end line and layed a pass off to Giovanni Montesdeoca about 10 yards out from goal and he calmly placed it near post in the upper left corner

The Eagles return to league action but remain on the road as they travel to Farmville, VA on Saturday, Sept. 30 to take on Longwood at 6 p.m.
