TROY, AL – The Winthrop Volleyball team fell to Troy 3-1 on Saturday, the Eagles finished 2-1 in the Troy invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Winthrop started on a 4-1 run but Troy came back and fought back and forth with the Eagles
- Troy took control of the set and started pulling away at 14-9
- The Eagles fought back and tied up at 20 but Troy pulled away and won the set 25-23
Set 2
- Winthrop and Troy went back and forth all match until Winthrop went up 17-13
- The Trojans went on a 5-1 run to tie it at 18
- The Eagles went on to win the set 25-20 after Sydney Gunter had a kill
Set 3
- Winthrop started off the set hot until Troy came back to tie it at 10
- Troy went on a 8-3 run to go up 18-13
- The Trojans finished the set on a 15-6 run to beat Winthrop 25-16
Set 4
- Troy opened the set on a 10-6 run but Winthrop came back to be down by one 10-9
- The Trojans added more to lead by going on a 9-3 run and up 19-12
- Winthrop could not come back as they fell 25-16 in the fourth set.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will be traveling to Greenville, NC to be part of the East Carolina tournament where they will face The Citadel, Hampton, and East Carolina next weekend.
