Game Recap
- After a couple of early chances for the Eagles they opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Max Hasenstab set up Nil Vinyals for his first of the season
- Georgia State responded by pressuring the Eagles immediately and tied the match in the 20th minute
- Rashid Alarape scored his third goal of the season as he was assisted by Salomon Lorenzano
- After seven straight shots in by Georgia State, Hasenstab put the Eagles on top 2-1 as he scored his 6th goal of the season off a pass from Evan Stout
- Georgia State tied the game in the 86th minute as Kyle Clinton headed home a throw-in by Liam Fitzsimmons
- At the end of regulation, Georgia State held a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal
- In the first overtime, Clinton nearly had his second goal of the game as he pinged one off the post early on
- In the second overtime, Stout had his shot hit the post and stay out
- Fortune favored Georgia State in the second overtime as it was awarded a penalty kick in the 107th minute as Alarape converted for his second goal of the game

- Hasenstab became the 8th Winthrop player to reach 40 career goals and the 5th D1 player to reach the milestone
- Winthrop allowed a goal in the final five minutes of regulation for the third time this season (all on the road)
- The Eagles are 0-2-3 in the last three contests that went into double-overtime
Looking Ahead
Winthrop returns home for two straight games beginning with a non-conference contest against Georgia Southern on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. The Eagles will then open up Big South Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 23 at home against Presbyterian College at 7 p.m.
