Game Recap
- The first half saw both teams work hard on both ends of the field but each team finished with just one solid scoring opportunity
- Josh Bronstorph's strike from about 25 yards out in the middle of the field was hit solid but Kenneth Perkinson was able to get down for a diving save and hold on to the ball in the 30th minute
- The Winthrop Eagles tried to get a late goal in the first half as Max Hasenstab was set up inside the box, but his shot was turned away by Robert Flott for a corner
- The second half saw both teams create several more scoring opportunities than the first
- Winthrop took a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute as Nil Vinyals drew attention from the defense and slipped a ball wide into the box for Leif Estevez as he then crossed the ball on the surface in front of goal as Evan Stout ran on and fired home his first career goal
- In the 79th minute Winthrop committed a foul just outside the box and Javier Carbonell made them pay as he placed his shot around the wall and into the right corner of the goal
- With just 38 seconds to play, Georgia Southern's Carbonell collected the ball and dribbled to the end line as he slipped a pass to the top of the six to Blake Wilson for the game-winner
