Baseball Announces Hiring Of Robert Monday As Assistant Coach

ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop head baseball coach Tom Riginos has announced the hiring of Robbie Monday as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.
 
"I am excited to announce that Robbie Monday has joined the Winthrop Baseball Coaching staff," said Riginos. "He is a great fit with the chemistry and culture of our program, and we are looking forward to an awesome year!"
 
Monday, who will work primarily with catchers and hitters, joins the Eagles after coaching at University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Barton College and a successful playing career at University of North Carolina Wilmington after transferring from Surry Community College his freshman year.
 
"Robbie is a rising star in our profession. Through the interview process, it was obvious Robbie has a true passion and love for coaching hitters," said coach Riginos. "I am confident that this passion coupled with his energetic personality will make him a great asset to the Winthrop Eagle! I am extremely excited to welcome Robbie, his wife Sara and daughter Josey Grae to the Winthrop family."
 
Monday coached the 2017 season as an assistant baseball coach / camp coordinator at UNC Wilmington. He was responsible for hitters.
 
Prior to Wilmington, Monday spent a year at Barton College as the assistant baseball coach / assistant outdoor complex coordinator. He worked with the players to enhance their hitting ability and mental toughness while in the box.
 
Monday graduated in May 2010 from UNCW with a degree in Communication Studies. He played one season for the Surry Community College and three seasons with UNCW. He was the Seahawks Team MVP in 2010, ABCA All-State in 2010, and CAA All-Conference in 2009-10 season.
