ROCK HILL, SC – North Florida netted a goal in the fifth minute Sunday afternoon and it was all the Ospreys needed as they downed the Eagles 1-0 at Eagle Field.
With the loss, Winthrop falls to 1-1-1 while North Florida improved to 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
North Florida scored the fifth-minute goal after coming out strong offensively. The Ospreys earned three consecutive corner kicks and on the third attempt, the ball bounced out to Katy Mixon who fired a ball from 25 yards out towards the middle of the box. The ball found the foot of Krista Columbiale who deflected the ball into the back of the net.
STATS OF NOTE
Winthrop finished the contest with 10 total shots and had a number of quality scoring opportunities but couldn't earn a goal. Keeley Leising finished with four shots while Gianna Giroux fired three. After North Florida fired off 12 shots in the first half, the Eagles limited the Ospreys to only four in the second half. Kelly Horan recorded four saves in the loss.
NEXT TIME OUT
Winthrop hits the road for its next two contests. The Eagles travel to Coastal Carolina on September 1 and SC State on September 7. Winthrop returns to Eagle Field against USC Upstate on September 10.
