ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team returns to Eagle Field Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. contest against the Radford Highlanders as the Eagles look to pick up their first Big South victory of the season and avoid the program's first-ever 0-3 conference start.
Winthrop (3-9, 0-2) is coming off a tough 20-10 loss on the road to High Point Wednesday afternoon. Allie Yeager had a strong offensive performance after missing a good chunk of the year due to injury. Yeager netted five goals on five shots to lead the team.
Radford (5-6, 1-1), in only its second year of NCAA competition, picked up its first-ever Big South victory Wednesday afternoon with a 19-12 win over Gardner-Webb. Emma Rogers leads the way for the Highlanders offensively with 36 goals while Lindsey Carroll leads the team with 46 points on 17 goals and 29 assists.
In the only previous meeting between the two programs, Winthrop downed Radford 26-5 last season.
The Eagles will hit the road again after Saturday's home contest, traveling to Clinton, SC to take on Presbyterian Wednesday at 4 p.m.
