Eagles Return Home With Three-Game Win Streak To Host Gardner-Webb Wednesday

ROCK HILL, SC – Riding a three-game conference winning streak, the Winthrop lacrosse team returns home Wednesday evening to host the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at 6 p.m. as the regular season enters its final week.

After starting the Big South slate with a 0-2 mark, the Eagles have rattled off three straight wins, knocking off Radford, Presbyterian and Longwood by an average margin of nearly 12 goals per game.

Winthrop is in position, with two wins this week, to finish in third place in the conference, which would afford them the right to host a quarterfinal contest in the Big South Tournament.

Gardner-Webb enters Wednesday's contest winless with a 0-15 overall record and a 0-5 mark in the conference.  The Bulldogs are coming off a 22-6 loss to Campbell on Saturday.

Amanda Steinmuller leads Gardner-Webb offensively with 37 goals while also dishing out 19 assists.  Melan White and Katie Sylvester have shared the majority of the minutes in goal for the Bulldogs.

Winthrop closes out its regular season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest against the Liberty Flames.  Prior to the contest, the Eagles will recognize their four seniors.
