BOULDER, CO – The Winthrop lacrosse team fell on the road to the fourth-ranked Colorado Buffaloes 18-6 Wednesday afternoon.
Winthrop (2-4) struggled offensively in the first half as Ellie Marindin scored the Eagles' lone goal of the half as Colorado (8-0) took a 14-1 lead into the break.
The Eagles played a much more inspired second half, outscoring the Buffaloes 5-4.  Katie Clark found the back of the net three times while Bianca Tedesco and Sydney Cope each tallied one goal 
Clark's three goals came on four total shots while she went 2-for-3 on free-position attempts.  Winthrop finished with 19 shots while picking up nine ground balls and corralling seven draw controls.  Goalie Chloe Wormsley finished with five saves.
Winthrop will return to Eagle Field with two home games this weekend.  The Eagles will host Marist on Friday at 5 p.m. and Davidson Sunday at 1 p.m.
