Women's Basketball Returns Home Sunday to Host East Tennessee State at 2 p.m.

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's basketball team returns home Sunday afternoon to host the East Tennessee State Buccaneers at 2 p.m., looking to snap a three-game losing skid.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop has dropped its last three games including two on the road already this week.  The Eagles fell at Akron on Tuesday and Marshall Thursday.
 
Turnovers have plagued the Eagles this week as they have averaged 23 in their last two games and opponents have scored an average of 31 points off the team's miscues.
 
Winthrop is still looking for a consistent scoring presence.  Through six games this season, the Eagles have had five different players lead the team in scoring.
 
SCOUTING ETSU
East Tennessee State won four of its first five contests before dropping three in a row and got back in the win column Wednesday, downing Murray State on the road 96-68.
 
Tianna Tarter and Erica Haynes-Overton lead the Buccaneers offensively, averaging 17.1 and 14 points per game respectively.  Britney Snowden leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.1 boards per contest..
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST ETSU
This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the Eagles and Buccaneers with East Tennessee State holding a 6-3 lead in the series.  The two sides met last year in Johnson City, TN with the Buccaneers coming away with a 62-45 victory.  The last Winthrop victory came on January 27, 1988.
 
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will host its final home contest of 2017 next Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m. against the Wofford Terriers before playing their final three games of the year on the road.
 
WINTHROP SPORTS SHOW AT ROCO
Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season. The show is from 6-6:30 p.m. and also airs on 94.3 FM & 104.1 The Bridge.
