Eagles Head to Ohio for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Contest Against Akron

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's basketball team heads to Akron, Ohio Tuesday for a 10:30 a.m. matinee contest against the Akron Zips.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a 10-day break after previously playing on November 18 at home against South Carolina State.  The Eagles fell 65-37 to the Bulldogs.
 
Freshman Kayla Brown continues to lead the Eagles in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game.  Graduate student Ronata Rogers has been a consistent offensive force for Winthrop through four games as she has scored seven points per game while leading the team with 7.3 rebounds per contest.
 
SCOUTING AKRON
The Zips enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-2 record after defeating Eastern Kentucky last Wednesday 62-45 to even their season record.  Akron is 2-1 at home this season.
 
Akron is averaging 60.8 points per game this season and has been led by junior guard Megan Sefcik who has averaged 11 points per game.  Sophomore forward Haliegh Reinoehl has averaged just shy of a double-double this season, scoring eight points per game and pulling down 9.8 rebounds per contest.
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST AKRON
Tuesday will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Eagles and Zips.  Akron leads the series 3-0.  Akron defeated the Eagles 80-59 last year at the Winthrop Coliseum.
 
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will have a quick turnaround as it heads to Marshall for a 6 p.m. Thursday contest against the Thundering Herd.  The Eagles will then return home on Sunday for a 2 p.m. matchup against East Tennessee State.
 
WINTHROP SPORTS SHOW AT ROCO
Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season. The show is from 6-6:30 p.m. and also airs on 94.3 FM & 104.1 The Bridge.
