ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop Volleyball team snapped High Point 26 straight set win but fell to them 3-1 on Saturday at the Winthrop Coliseum.

• Junior Marion Vaucher led the Eagles with 17 kills with a .300 hitting percentage and only five errors
• Freshman Puaooleglagi Sao helped the Eagles with 19 digs

 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1

• Both teams fought neck and neck for the majority of the set with nobody taking a big lead
• Winthrop was up 22-19 which forced High Point to call a timeout
• The Panthers came back to tie it at 23-23
• With a kill by Phoebe Wu and Annie Sandlin gave Winthrop the win 25-23
• That is High Point first loss in a set in the past 26 sets
• Junior Phoebe Wu had eight kills

Set 2

• The Panthers started on a 11-4 run
• High Point had the lead the majority of the set until Winthrop came back to bring it within two at 19-17
• High Point held Winthrop to only four more points to take the set 25-21
• Winthrop had 19 digs to High Point 16 digs

Set 3

• The Eagles started on a 4-1 run
• High Point came back to tie it at 10-10 and went up 13-10
• High Point went on a 12-7 run to win the set 25-17
• Winthrop only hit .050 while the Panthers had a .250 hitting percentage

Set 4

• The Panthers started on a 8-1 run
• Winthrop kept on fighting but were forced to call a timeout with the score of 19-12
• The Eagles ended on a 9-6 run but after a kill by Haley Barnes, High Point won the set 25-21
• Vaucher had six kills in that set and Winthrop hit a .235
