RADFORD, VA – The Winthrop volleyball team was blanked 3-0 Saturday afternoon against Radford Highlanders.

EAGLES HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Sydney Gunter had nine kills with a .286 hitting percentage
- Sophomore Jace Kleffner helped the Eagles with seven kills and one error
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Radford started on a 9-2 run
- Winthrop had little offense as they only had nine kills in the set
- Radford went on to win the set 25-14
- Junior Phoebe Wu had four kills during this set with Gunter having two kills.
Set 2
- The Highlanders started on a 5-2 run until Winthrop came back to tie it at 5-5
- Both teams kept it close until Radford was up 15-14 and went on a 10-1 run that forces Winthrop to use a timeout
- During that run Radford had five kills and Winthrop had four errors
- Gunter had four kills during that set while sophomore Siani Yamaguchi had 16 assists in the game
Set 3
- Both teams were fighting back-and-forth until Winthrop went on a 3-0 run to make it 12-9 which forced Radford to call a timeout
- After the timeout, Radford went on a 7-0 run to make it 16-12
- Winthrop tried to fight back but were unable to as Radford hold the victory 25-18. Gunter had three kills in the set
- Radford out killed Winthrop 51-30 and had a hitting percentage of .342 while Winthrop only had .101.
