ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop volleyball team hits the road Friday looking to snap a two-match skid as the Eagles head to Durham, NC to take on NC Central.
Winthrop is 7-8 on the season and looking to rebound from a three-set loss to Gardner-Webb in the team's conference opener Tuesday evening.
The Eagles' offensive woes continued Tuesday as the team hit only .115 as Brianna Gray and Emma Weakland tied for the team lead with eight kills each. Carlie Skelton was a bright spot as recorded a three-set program record for digs with 29.
NC Central, also the Eagles, enters Friday's match with a 1-6 overall record. Central is coming off a three-set loss to Elon on September 13. NC Central's only win came over Alabama A&M on September 10. They have failed to win a set in their six losses.
Casey Curran has led NC Central with 51 kills this season. Paige Phillips is the team's primary setter, averaging 6.68 assists per set.
Following Friday's contest, Winthrop will have the week off from contests until hosting Campbell and High Point in Big South Contests next weekend.
