ROCK HILL, SC—Goalkeeper Karly Gustafson picked up her first clean sheet on the season as the Lady Eagles' soccer team tied the Longwood Lancers 0-0 after double overtime Wednesday afternoon at Manchester Meadows.
 

Both teams had their chances in the first half as each team compiled four shots including one on target for each squad.  The first opportunity came for Longwood in the 9^th minute as Amanda Spencer headed the ball towards goal forcing Gustafson to make her first save of the match.  Minutes later Taylor Coleman tried to sneak one past the Lancers' Maria Kirby but she was able to produce a save of her own.

The remainder of the first period the two teams traded shots and possession but neither team could find the right touch.

Longwood opened the second half with a shot on goal in the 50^th minute but Gustafson once again made a key save.  Defense ruled the match for most of the second stanza until Longwood tested Gustafson again at the 76^th minute mark.  Winthrop was able to respond when JoJo Taylor ripped a shot on goal from outside the box in the 83^rd minute.

In the 90^th minute of regulation, Winthrop's Samantha Prytulak went for a game winner but did not put enough on it as Kirby was able to come up with the save.  At the 98^th minute mark the Lancers had a real chance to win the game but Lilly Payne's header was too high.

In the second overtime Prytulak attempted another game winner in the 103^rd minute mark but again Kirby snuffed it out.  Gustafson saved the day once again in the 109^th minute mark on a shot attempted by Longwood's Bridget Bergquist.  The score remained deadlocked at 0-0 as the match came to an end.  

Winthrop, 4-4-2 (1-1-1 BSC), will begin their three match road trip when they travel to face the High Point Panthers this Saturday night beginning at 7:00 pm at Vert Stadium in High Point, NC.
