ROCK HILL, SC—The Winthrop Lady Eagles' soccer team will host the Longwood Lancers for a Big South Conference clash Wednesday beginning at 2:30 pm at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill. Admission is free.

The Lady Eagles picked up their first Big South Conference victory when they defeated Gardner-Webb 2-1 on the road this past Saturday night. After falling behind early in the match, Winthrop rallied with two quick goals at the end of the first half to seal the victory. Lauren Watts scored her first goal of the season in the 36th minute. Taylor Coleman was able to break away from the competition and beat the goalkeeper moments later at the 39th minute mark to score her second game winner of the season. Goalkeeper Caroline Duncan helped lead Winthrop to the victory compiling eight saves along the way. She is now 3-1-1 as a starter on the season.
ABOUT OPPONENT
The Lancers enter the match off a 2-1 overtime loss to Coastal Carolina. Longwood only shares one common opponent as Winthrop on the season. The Lady Eagles were able to draw with Western Carolina 1-1 while Longwood lost 1-0 against WCU. The teams mirror one another as they each average 1.2 goals and 12.5 shots per match.
