ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop Athletics will launch its "My 1 Story" video series this weekend as former softball standout and Canadian Olympic team member Janiva Willis tells of her experiences as an Eagle athlete.
Both former and current Winthrop athletes will be featured throughout the year during Big South Network video stream broadcasts, on the Eagle TV section of the Winthrop Athletics web site, You Tube, and the Winthrop Coliseum video board during volleyball and basketball games.
"My 1 Story" is another component of the One Winthrop branding campaign that was launched in August that promotes the concept of one team, one family, one goal and highlights the Winthrop Athletics emphasis on its core values of education, opportunity, community and tradition.
Each video clip will run about four to five minutes in length and will give former athletes the opportunity to tell a story about their Winthrop experience and how it has helped them to achieve a successful career. Current student-athletes will share stories about why they chose to attend Winthrop and how they are being educated and trained to reach their life's dreams and career goals.
Upcoming video features already planned include former women's soccer player Carolyn Quarles Burdette, now working as a chemist in Washington, D.C., current baseball pitcher Matt Crohan, who was selected to play for Team USA this past summer, former Winthrop basketball standout and Hall of Fame member Greg Lewis, who spent 13 years as a professional player in South America and overseas, current women's basketball standout Schaquilla Nunn, a two-time All-Big South Conference selection, former men's soccer player Saidi Isaac, now a successful insurance agent, former volleyball player Erin Gjernes, a food company owner, current Winthrop track All-American Marthaline Cooper, current men's golf All-American Zach Seabolt, former cross country runner and two-time Big South Runner of the Year Adam Growley, current women's soccer player Jessica Logan and current men's basketball player Tevin Prescott.
