ROCK HILL, SC—In an effort to create a stronger home court advantage with increased student attendance, Winthrop University introduces the Winthrop Game Changers Scholarship promotion.
Winthrop Game Changers is an opportunity for students to win a $500 scholarship toward their tuition each time the men's or women's basketball team wins a home game.
How does Winthrop Game Changers work? Each student will get their Winthrop ID scanned when entering the game. After each Winthrop victory, they will check the video board following the fight song to see if they are a winner. For every win there will be $2000 split four ways. There will be three winners after each victory and all three will receive $500 toward tuition. The other $500 will go into a reserve fund. During the last men's and women's home games of the season, one lucky student at each game who attends a minimum of five games during the season will walk away with half of the reserve total to assist with tuition.
In addition to having your Winthrop ID scanned, you must be sitting in the assigned sections for each men's or women's game. For men's games students must be sitting in section 110, 114, or 115 while students need to sit in section 108 for women's games to be eligible for selection.
The Winthrop Game Changers Scholarship wouldn't be possible without the generous support by individuals in the community who have donated funds specifically for the promotion.
What are the Rules? - If the Eagles win, three winners will be announced at the end of the game and the students must be present to win!
- You must attend five women's basketball games to be eligible for the drawing of the final reserve at the last women's home game.
- You must attend five men's basketball games to be eligible for the drawing of the final reserve at the last men's home game.
- Students do not have to be prior winners of the Game Changers Scholarship in order to be eligible for the drawing of the reserve at the final women's and men's basketball game.
- The names of the students who have attended 5 women's games and/or 5 men's games will be included in a drawing for the reserve scholarship money.
- The reserve scholarship money will be split and a winner will be chosen at the final women's home game and the final men's home game. Win or lose, this scholarship will be awarded. Should the men's or women's team win their final home game there will be three students selected to win the $500 in addition to announcing the winner of the drawing.
