ROCK HILL, SC—Recently WalletHub.com released its 2015 Best & Worst Cities for soccer fans and Rock Hill came in at 41^st.

Rock Hill has enjoyed a lot of success between the Winthrop soccer programs, Discoveries Soccer Club and the local high schools.

"Rock Hill was not even on the soccer map 25-plus year ago," said Winthrop head men's soccer coach Rich Posipanko. "Today we we're listed as the 41^st best soccer city by WallettHub. This success is a combination of many things and many people. The success of Discoveries Soccer Club winning a National Championship to Northwestern High School winning numerous State Championships to Winthrop University's national exposure and NCAA College Cup appearances have all helped in making Rock Hill a top tier soccer community. Between Winthrop University and Discoveries Soccer Club the city of Rock Hill has produced over 20 professional players during the past several years." 

To find the best and worst cities for professional- and college-soccer fans, WalletHub analyzed 172 of the most populated U.S. cities across two equally weighted key dimensions, including "Teams & Performance" and "Costs & Fan Engagement." They then identified 18 relevant metrics (Click here to see the list) For their sample they chose cities with at least one college soccer or professional soccer team.

"Perhaps the biggest impact in our community on soccer in recent years has been the building of the Manchester Soccer Complex," added Posipanko. "It's one of the best and nicest soccer complexes in the nation and has been a rallying point for our soccer community. Everyone involved with soccer in our community over the years should be proud of this accomplishment. With improved facilities and the quality of coaching getting better each year, soccer will continue to grow and be even more successful in the Rock Hill area in years to come."
