Eagles Return Home Monday Evening To Host Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m.

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team returns home Monday evening for the first time in nearly a month to host the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs in the team's home conference opener.

The Eagles are coming off a 16-4 victory over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon, in the team's first conference contest of the season.  Conference newcomer Gardner-Webb fell in its first Big South game Saturday, 18-2 to High Point.

Senior Jenna Kasmarik led the Eagles over the Blue Hose with seven goals on 13 shots and also picked up three draw controls.  Kasmarik increased her team and conference lead to 47 goals and 52 points.  Freshman Kristen Shriver totaled six points on two goals and four assists. 

Junior Shannon Gallagher finished with two goals and two assists and fellow juniors Danielle Ellis and Abigail Blevins each totaled three points.  Freshman goalie Alaina Girani made three saves in the victory.

Gardner-Webb enters Monday's contest winless through 10 games in its first year of Division I competition.  The Bulldogs have been outscored this year by an average of 14 goals per contest.

Midfield Amanda Steinmuller is the team's leading scorer with 12 goals this season while Amanda Rose leads the squad with five assists.  Freshman Raygan Hall has been the team's primary goalie, playing in all 10 games and recording eight of the team's 10 decisions.  She has allowed just over 17 goals per game with a .353 save percentage.

Following Monday's contest the Eagles will head back on the road on Friday, April 10 for a 3 p.m. game against the Campbell Camels.
