HIGH POINT, NC—Winthrop men's soccer remained unbeaten in Big South Conference action as it earned a 1-1 draw at High Point, Saturday night at Vert Stadium.

The Eagles winning streak comes to an end at six games, but they remained unbeaten in league play at 5-0-1 and are now 7-5-1 overall. The Panthers are now 6-5-4 overall and 2-2-2 in the Big South. Winthrop will put its unbeaten record of seven games on the line Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. when it hosts nationally-ranked Coastal Carolina.

Senior Jordan Stoddart scored the lone goal for the Eagles when he headed home a Marco Gatzke cross in the 22nd minute for a 1-0 lead. It is Stoddart's second goal in the last three games.

Just before the half, High Point's Johnny Fenwick scored his first goal of the season when he scored off a free kick service from Ebe Kudolo.

High Point finished with an 18-12 advantage in shots and 8-5 in shots on goal. It was a physical game on both sides as the two teams combined for 33 fouls and six yellow cards. Fabian Broich finished the game with seven saves while High Point's Kody Palmer finished with three.

The Eagles best chance in the second half came in the 51st minute when Stoddart was on the end of another service as his header was cleared off the line by Ryeong Choi to keep the game at 1-1. High Point's best chance came in the 108th minute when Avery Ryan had an open look near the edge of the 18-yard box and let a shot fly but Broich was down to make the save, preserving the tie.
