Longwood scored both goals within five minutes of each other, as the first half came to a close. Olivia Colella opened the scoring in the 42nd minute as she collected a cross from Natalie Fry and shot it from 5 yards out past goalkeeper
Amelia Henderson. Fry got her own goal, just three minutes later, after she capitalized on a cross from who found her wide open in the middle and put a high shot past an outstretched Henderson.
Senior
Krystyna Freda had the best opportunity to pull one back when she was one on one with Longwood's Hailey Machen, but Machen managed to make a save on Freda's low shot.
Winthrop was held to eight shots with Freda getting 4, while
Grace Radler earned 2. Henderson finished the night with five saves while her counterpart Machen made four.
The Lady Eagles host High Point on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Eagle Field.
