Winthrop Lacrosse Hosts Jacksonville Saturday In Final Non-Conference Contest

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team returns home on Saturday to close out its non-conference schedule with a 4 p.m. contest against the Jacksonville University Dolphins.

The Eagles enter the contest with a 3-6 record after splitting two games on its last road trip with a victory over Michigan before falling to Marquette.  Jacksonville has a 6-4 overall record and won its conference opener Wednesday, 24-1 over Kennesaw State.

Jenna Kasmarik leads the conference and is fifth in the country with 32 goals.  Shannon Gallagher has 16 goals this season and is tied for the team lead in assists with Danielle Ellis who both have 10.  Camille King had a solid performance against Michigan, recording a career-high 16 saves.  She is currently second in the conference in total saves and saves per game.

Morgan Derner leads the Dolphins offensively with 24 goals to go along with eight assists for 32 points.  Taylor McCord has scored 18 goals and notched 14 assists to lead the team.  Asia Moore is the primary goalie for Jacksonville, recording every decision this season.  Moore averages just over six saves per game while allowing better than 12 goals per contest.

Winthrop will enter its seven-game conference schedule following Saturday starting with a road game at Davidson on Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m.
