GAINESVILLE, FL – The Winthrop lacrosse team dropped its Wednesday contest with the 4th-ranked Florida Gators 21-5.
Winthrop struggled to stop the Gator attack. Florida got the first goal and Winthrop quickly pulled one back from the stick of Shannon Gallagher. The Gators then went on to score 14 unanswered before Jenna Kasmarik and Gallagher scored back-to-back goals for the Eagles.
Kasmarik and Sydney Cope found the back of the net in the second half for the Eagles as Winthrop was also able to limit Florida to only four tallies.
The Eagles will return home next to host Denver on Monday, March 17 at 4 p.m.
