ROCK HILL, SC- The Winthrop women's soccer team takes a break from conference play and travels to Florence, SC to take on Francis Marion on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Hartzler Soccer Field.
The Lady Eagles (3-6, 0-3 Big South) are looking to get back to winning ways after getting off to an explosive offensive start to the season. Despite being held to just one goal in the past four games, Winthrop's offense still falls in the top 25 nationally for scoring offense and points.
Krystyna Freda is ranked second in the conference in shots (44) and goals (7) and she leads the conference in points (17) and goals per game. In goal,
Amelia Henderson has tallied 32 saves and earned a goals against average of just 1.89.
Francis Marion (0-9) is looking for its first win of the year, losing most recently to Longwood 6-1. The Patriots' offense is led by sophomore Kelly Anthony who has two of Francis Marion's seven goals. Junior Taylor O'Berry has started all nine games in goal for the Patriots, making 54 saves and allowing 31 goals.
Head coach Frank Pitt is in his third year with the Patriots and has recorded an overall record of 9-35-1.
