	HIGH POINT, NC – The Winthrop lacrosse team struggled to stop the offensive attack of High Point Friday as the Eagles fell 21-5 to the Panthers on the road.
	Winthrop's three-game winning streak was snapped as the Eagles fell to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.  High Point improved to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in the Big South.
	The Panthers struck first, grabbing two goals in a span of only 38 seconds just over two minutes into the contest.  Shannon Gallagher got the Eagles on the board with 26:16 on the clock with her 48th goal of the season.  After High Point netted two more Gallagher added another goal to make it 4-2 with 20:03 on the clock.
	Gallagher picked up a yellow card less than a minute after her goal and the Panthers were able to go up 5-2 with the man advantage.  Megan Wallenhorst had an opportunity to cut the Panther lead to two with a one-on-one with the goalie, but her shot pinged off the post.  
	High Point continued its offensive attack, grabbing four more unanswered goals before Logan McCarthy netted her 19th goal of the season with 7:11 to play to pull Winthrop within 9-3.  The Panthers scored three more goals of the final five minutes of the half to take a 12-3 lead into the break.
	Less than two minutes into the second half the Panthers forced a running clock, going up 13-3.  Winthrop was briefly able to cut the lead under 10 goals on two markers from Claire Feeney, but the Eagles couldn't mount any momentum.  High Point scored seven unanswered goals over the remainder of the half en route to the victory.
	Claire Feeney and Shannon Gallagher each had two goals while Logan McCarthy added the other.  Hayley Krause continued her solid center circle performance, finishing with nine draw controls.
	High Point finished with 31 shots, 24 of them going on frame.  Winthrop had 18 shots with 14 of them on goal.  The Eagles had 16 draw controls to 12 for the Panthers, but Winthrop was only 8-for-13 on clear attempts.
	Winthrop will travel for its final road game of the regular season Sunday when the Eagles head to Conway, SC to face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at 3 p.m.
