Eagle Lacrosse To Host St. Bonaventure Sunday at 1 PM at Manchester Meadows

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop lacrosse team will continue its home stand Sunday in search of the program's first-ever winning streak when the Eagles host St. Bonaventure at 1 p.m.

Due to the expected rain in the Rock Hill area on Friday and Saturday the contest has been moved to the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex to an artificial turf field.

Winthrop enters Sunday's contest with a 2-1 overall record after downing Marquette 17-7 last Friday in the inaugural home contest for the Eagles.  St. Bonaventure opens its season Friday against Coastal Carolina.

For the second week in a row a Winthrop player received the Big South Offensive Player of the Week honor as Claire Feeney garnered this week's award after scoring seven goals against Marquette.

Feeney and Hayley Krause share the team lead in goals with seven each while Megan Wallenhorst currently leads the Eagles with 11 points on six goals and five assists.

St. Bonaventure finished the 2012 season with a 3-10 overall record with a 0-7 conference mark.  The Bonnies were voted to finish eighth in the Atlantic 10 this season.

The Bonnies return their second-leading scorer from last year, Erin Thomas who finished with 19 goals and three assists.  St. Bonaventure also returns some experience at goalie, returning both of its goalies from last year.

After Sunday, Winthrop will finish up its three-game home stretch with a contest against St. Francis (PA) on Sunday, March 3.
