ROCK HILL, SC--The United Way of York County and Winthrop Athletics have announced a partnership which will assist the clients and families of the various United Way agencies in York County.
Through the partnership, Winthrop Athletics will provide admissions to men's and women's basketball games through the remainder of the 2013 season. Winthrop Athletics in the past has supported some United Way agencies individually but this marks the first time that support is being made available to all the agencies collectively.
“We are pleased to be able to provide this opportunity to the 31 United Way agencies which mean so much to the people of York County," said Winthrop Athletic Director
Tom Hickman. "Winthrop University has long been a strong supporter of the United Way effort and this is yet another way that we are able to continue to provide that support.”
Debbie Hayworth, president and chief professional officer for the United Way of York County, said "On behalf of the United Way of York County, I would like to thank Winthrop University for providing an opportunity for local agencies and their clients to participate in Winthrop basketball excitement. Visiting Winthrop's campus helps develop the dreams and aspirations of future college students and supports local athletes."
