The Eagles have now lost four straight and fall to 15-32 on the year and 3-14 in the league. Radford has won three straight and are 27-14 overall and 11-3 in the Big South.

The Highlanders used big innings over the course of both games to earn the lopsided victories.

In the opening game of the day, Radford finished with eight runs on eight hits as it jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first. Nichole Beall led off the game with a double to left center and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Hannah Ojeda. Vicki Madden reached on an error on a fly ball to right and Beall crossed home plate for the 1-0 lead. Micalah Sacre followed with a single to left center, scoring Madden from second. At that point, Winthrop head coach Mark Cooke pulled Chelsey Schoenfeldt and put in Natalie Becker in the pitching circle. Becker walked the next batter to load the bases and then Jessie Hutchens drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right. On the play, Kathryn Eberlin tried to get the runner tagging from second to third at the third base bag, but her throw got away from her and allowed another run.

Winthrop got one back in the third on an RBI single from Kristy Noble. Jenna Harbin pinched-hit for Mel Andrea and led off the inning with a walk. Two batters later, Megan Chapman hit into a fielder's choice as Harbin was forced out at second. McKenzi Corn extended her hitting streak to nine games as she squeezed one through the hole at short and then Noble came through with the single for the Eagles only run.
Radford added four more in the sixth inning behind a two-run homer run by Madden to right center followed by a solo shot to right by Sacre. Ojeda also added an RBI single.

Schoenfeldt started the game, but allowed four runs (one earned) on two hits in 0.1 innings and suffered the loss. Becker tossed 5.2 innings of relief allowing four runs on four hits with six walks and seven strikeouts.

In game two, Radford jumped out to an early lead in the first again on a three-run blast off the bat of Madden, her second of the day.

In the third inning, Radford added five more runs highlighted by a three-run blast from Beall. The other big hit came off the bat of Morgan Eye, who had a two-run single through the left side with two outs, prior to Beall's shot.
